Basement of the Library Tower Flooded, and Fallout

If you've tried to access the current periodicals recently, you know that the Basement of our Library Tower is flooded (burst pressure valve.)

No one is allowed down there and some of the current periodicals have been moved to 11LT:
HD 9560.1 .S73
to
JA1 .C65

We hope to have it back open on Wednesday some time, once the carpet has dried out.

The other thing resulting from this was that last night, our connection to IT was severed, which cut off our access to just about all things library (Web pages, catalogue, research databases...)

So, our Public Services & Systems Librarian and crew have created this Web page, which sits on an entirely different server than the Library's other resources. It lists access to our catalogue, the e-journal list, and all of our research databases:
http://www.ucalgary.ca/lib-old/all.html
In the unlikely event that this ever happens again, you can use it to access the library's research tools.

Two New Research Databases - Environment Index & Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index

The Library has subscribed to 2 new indexes relevant to EVDS. Environment Index includes urban planning, law and policy and Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index, despite its name, has relevant information on ecology and conservation.
Both databases should appear in the Libary's Research Databases list soon-ish, and I will rank them in the EVDS Research Databases Lists.

Environment Index
http://ezproxy.lib.ucalgary.ca:2048/login?url=
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=
ip,uid&profile=ehost&defaultdb=egh

Formerly known as Environmental Knowledgebase OnLine (created by the International Academy at Santa Barbara) and Environmental Issues and Policy Index, Environment Index offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more.
Environment Index contains more than 1,590,000 records from 1,500 domestic and international titles going back to the 1950s (including 960 active core titles) as well as 100 monographs. Environment Index also features an in-depth thesaurus, and author profiles will be provided for 3,000 authors in the discipline.

Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index
http://ezproxy.lib.ucalgary.ca:2048/login?url=
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=ehost&defaultdb=puh

Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index is the premier resource for access to articles about gardens and plants. Topics include horticulture, botany, garden and landscape design & history, ecology, plant and garden conservation, garden management, and horticultural therapy. A highlight of the database is its focus on environmentally sustainable horticultural and design practices. This index and abstract product is designed for gardening enthusiasts, professionals, and students of horticulture and of garden and landscape design & history. Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index covers a wide range of serial titles including general gardening titles of national, international, and regional interest, and titles devoted to specialty gardens and plant groups. Indexed and abstracted are more than 300 core titles, the majority of which are published in English.
Coverage for many titles extends back further than a decade. Garden, Landscape & Horticulture Index is a unique resource that brings together articles about plants and gardens into a single source, and it includes titles that are not available in any other index.
